Pest Control Tips To Help You Enjoy A Cleaner Home

Posted on November 21, 2018October 15, 2019 by Louise B. Delia

Pests are problematic for many homeowners. Use these tips to stop a pest infestation before it starts. There are many alternatives in pest control that you can use. You will find several things in this article to help you get rid of pests.

Do you have a constant problem battling fruit flies? Your drain could be causing your pest problem. To see if your drains are breeding grounds for fruit flies simply place plastic wrap over your drain. After a few days, check to see if your drains have fruit flies. If fruit flies still appear, scrub around your drain after pouring boiling water. That should keep fruit flies from breeding there.

A great way to kill off wasps, bees, and hornets is by using hairspray on them. Hairspray contains may chemicals that can destroy these insects. In addition, the scent of hairspray can prevent more of these insects from coming into your home.

Do not buy a new home before getting an inspector to look at it first. Certain signs of infestation are easy to recognize, but keep in mind that you have no way of knowing what kind of pest is hiding under the home or in the insulation until you stay in the home for a few days.

If you are wondering if you have termites, get a dog that can smell them. A human that looks for termites may only be able to see if a third or so of your house is safe. A specially trained dog can give your home the most thorough inspection. They will notice methane gas, which can come from termites consuming the wood in your home.

Make sure you thoroughly inspect your home for any standing puddles of water. Standing water is a huge attraction for pests. Make sure that you take care of any leaky pipes and standing water in your home. Pests rely on water for survival so make sure to get rid of any water sources you can think of.

Clear away brush from the perimeter of your home. Brush is a natural home to many insects and there is no way to prevent this. If you put the bush close to the house, you will be inviting them in.

If pests and bugs are driving you to distraction, help may be at hand. Sales associates in the home improvement store can show you the best products to eliminate your problem. These people are experienced and will be able to recommend a pesticide that is appropriate for your specific infestation.

Are rodents coming into your home? Walk around the perimeter of your home and try to locate small cracks that might be allowing pests inside. Use scouring pads and poison to fill such cracks. Repellents may also work.

There are numerous ways to implement pest control. Whichever method you decide to use, be sure that it is safe for your family. As important as it is to eliminate pests, it is equally important that your family is not at risk.
